GALAXY Classroom Curriculum

GALAXY Classroom works — increasing student achievement gains and student motivation, as well as re-energizing teachers and improving instructional skills.

GALAXY Classroom began as an initiative by the GM Hughes Aircraft Company, and funding from the National Science Foundation, to create highly effective Science and Language Arts curricula for elementary students to dramatically improve learning in America's schools. GALAXY Classroom brings authentic, dynamic learning adventures directly into America's classrooms via interactive video. The curricula combine many "best practices" in teaching and learning with an extensive array of technologies and hands-on resources to support real-world learning.

GALAXY Classroom is PreK-5 standards-driven, inquiry-based Science and Language Arts curricula. All curriculum units include a compelling video series, hands-on investigations, an interactive online learning environment, professional development, and an online teacher/student portfolio management system. GALAXY Science curricula consist of six full-year Science curricula, and one-year of Language Arts. Each curriculum is organized around themes that support National Education Standards. Schools can purchase GALAXY Classroom as a full, yearlong curriculum and can mix theme "modules" as needed to match their state standards.
